About

This site is devoted to thoughts about ambient music, along with music I've written myself. I've been thinking about electronic and ambient music since I was a teenager, and making music since about the same time.

This blog is primarily about music, but it's fairly idiosyncratic and far from completist. I tend to have tastes decades out of date, so don't be expecting up to the minute reviews of the latest Mongolian dubstep, or whatever. Despite this, I hope there will be an audience for this site - statistically there must be some people out there who have similar tastes. Hopefully they can read english, too.

Although primarily about music, I'm hoping to be able to touch on a wider aesthetic which takes into account psychology and landscape and environment and architecture(!). This may sound a bit forbidding, but it's not just the sound of ambient music I'm interested in, it's the way it's listened to and felt. So if I occasionally wander off into these areas, please don't be alarmed.

Finally, I have what might be described as a robust sense of humour. Unfortunately, this often breaks out even when I'm trying to make a serious point. I could rein it in, but there are some subjects that benefit serious analysis (geopolitics), and others that don't. Yes, you can write thoughtfully about music, but just remember, it's all just a mix of external stimulus and brain hormones, and no amount of serious writing is ever going to encapsulate that in words. So, instead I hope this blog may be interesting, but it should be entertaining.
